I wrote this poem in 1996 for a terrific woman I spent 7 years with named Ofelia. I read it and it wasn't so bad, unlike some of the old pictures I'm going through..

Rosebeds

by: Victor Del Prete

When you plant your bed of roses,
you must dig the holes just right;
for wind and rain will wash them away
without so much as a fight.

When you clip your bed of roses,
you must treat them with great care;
for roses can be fragile
and their petals easily tear.

If you ignore your bed of roses,
you had better have good reason;
for roses tend to go away
and won't come back next season.

If time endures and all goes well
your roses will be quite rare;
in time you'll want to pick them
and you'll hope that they'll be there.
