I have no reason to doubt that Mark F. is cautiously optimistic. He might actually be fooling himself into beleiving that his investment is not lost, but I have no way of knowing for certain that such is the case. I grant him that he knows a lot of things that we do not know, but his prediction are starting to ring hollow.
1.) He took the blame for the Las Vegas fiasco.
2.) More than a month ago, he told me that SOYO is out. That one of the employees at ReelTime got the sticker and advertizing contents with the TV he bought on line. But I have absolutely no independent confirmation. Being that SOYO sells around 500 units per day, you would have thought that with the advertisement in the boxes, we would have gotten a lot more visitors, if nothing else.
3.) He told me that the audit would be out by now. In fact the general purpose deadline was postponed by him in telephone conversations in several ocassions. Each time, he said that the delay was on the part of the auditors.
4.) He told me that there would be news this week that I would be very happy with. As far as I am concerned, the PR that was released in more of the "same ole", and rather counterproductive. He told me that there would be some more very exciting PRs in the near future. When questioned, he said this year.
So, he was right in that a PR came out this week, but that is all.
Furthermore, on another line, the competition is moving forwards very quickly. While we may not be falling behind on the technology, in everything else we are faltering badly. Plua, we have no money to throw into the frey.
It is starting to look that the only chance for success would be by making a deal in which the content provider uses our systems and pays of a fee. And it is their responsibility to generate visitors. Maybe this is what they have been aiming at for several months since they lost their optimism on genrating revenues through PPVs, which was the original intent--and the reason I invested. That was what they touted at the beginning, and I am convinced that they changed their focus only because their original plan was not working.
I am almost to the point of accepting this as a total loss.
