#59012 RE: nicehit #58999

The product itself is complete. SpoozToolz is a stand-alone, complete product. Period. But it is not a plug-n-play for Bloomberg because of Bloombergs's own technology requirements. Simple as that.

Bloomberg comes in and says something like "that is totally cool product, BUT let us show you where we want you to put things within our Bloomberg system. That fits over here..... and this over here.... and we want you to add this over here..... And we like the Excel thing, by the way.... and, listen up, we deliver our data to a custom, non standard SQL database that is our specification, so to work best, you need code to our secret internals that we don't just hand out to anyone... secrets about our custom version of SQL and our datastream ...." and so forth.

Nicehit, you guys are understandably confused about there being a complete product on the one hand and Bloomberg having specific requirements that necessitate custom coding on the other hand. SpoozToolz is not out-of-the-box with Bloomberg because of Bloomberg's own branding requirements & technology. They are not delivering a DDE style request/reply data server datafeed.

Their data comes in over a proprietary compressed datafeed link to a custom database server that users have to buy and setup in their site. Then and only then can you get data on your "Bloomberg" terminal (which, as often as not these days, is a separate computer in a user's shop). The data comes in over a custom conection to their custom database on a PC that you ahve to buy and setup and maintain in your network.

Bloomberg data is not delivered over the internet. Bloomberg users are connected directly to the remote Bloomberg data servers. The hardware is Bloomberg's spec. The data is encoded Bloomberg's way. Its Bloomberg way across the booard, and it is deliberately unique. It costs more because of what Bloomberg does that makes it a BRAND.

If I subscribe to eSignal (I do) or DTNIQ (I do) or MarketLink datafeed (I do), the style of the interface is entirely different from Bloomberg's.

To get the data from Bloomberg, I have to subscribe to a custom T1 or T3 line; I have a modem from Bloomberg (I can't just go down to Fry's and pick one up); I have to dedicate a custom server in shop; I have to set-up, understand, and maintain a proprietary Bloomberg database server. The datafeed is connected directly to this server, where every tick is streamed in (as apposed to DDE or a Barcharts stye Com object, both of which are push/pull or client/server). The latency is lower. The encoding is Bloombergs proprietary stream format. The tick stream flows to my expensive in-house custom database server hardware; it gets databased in a non-row-and-column, proprietary SQL database. Then, and only then, does my "Bloomberg" come alive.

And think about it: The "Bloomberg" is like a "fridge", a phrase which became part of our vernacular because of Frigidair's dominance of the refrigirator market. If you go and listen to the radia program of the guy who gave me my volume trading approach, (Tommy O'Brien), when he talks every afternoon at 3 PM Central time at tfnn.cm, he regularly tells you he is looking stuff up on his "Bloomberg". Its a BRAND and it is special. My point is that there is no way in this universe where Spooz could have benn prepared to have SpoozToolz be a plug-n-play for the Bloomberg brand.

Bloomberg has a brand built on TECHNOLOGY that is vastly superior to ordinary solutions. As such, it is non-realistic to read the PR and the contract news to mean that the product was delivered at the start of the 60 day window. Spooz has a contract to deliver according to a strict set of agreements within a fixed time frame. Any other view is hopeful thinking, but its like dressing up in a wishful thinking costume rather than a reality cloak, IMHO and in my experience.

Now, there are people who use the time franme to try to accumulate, as a buying opp. I know Spooz is a stinky pinky and I could lose my $$ because risk is risk is risk is risk. But if you think my reaction to finding out that Spooz has a deal with the premier technology brand in the financial data delivery industry.... if you think this news caused me to increase my belief that Spooz will fail, you have another thing coming.

Knowing what I do about the software business and seeing the wording of the PR itself, if you think I have a less optimistic view of this general proposition than I did 6 weeks ago then you are simply of such a mind as to insist stubbornly on clinging to a SHOW ME THE MONEY NOW mentality that refuses to look at anything as good news until you have your appetites gratified in your demanded timeframe. Investing just doesn't work that way, my friend, and there are lots of people who will shake your tree to get your shares if they think you are vulnerable to such deceptive thinking.

IMHO, this Bloomberg news is fabulous neews. It still has to be delivered on, but it is far better to be in this situation that to be where we were prior to having this become a set of knowns. As far as I'm concerned, we can expect risk takers to buy this puppy for the duration of this period. I expect some folks to get pi$$ed off and bail, angry that the price is not going parabolic. Fine.

Do this though, folks. I did, so try it yourselves. If you think this puppy is doomed, put a test sale on of 1 million shares at the bid and see how long it takes for an opportunist to snarf it up. Time it. Just test this yourselves. Between you and me and the wall, I did this very thing. And guess what? At bid, shares get snarfed up before you can get back from the men's room. There are people just sitting there in the tall grass waiting to pounce on shares that get shaken out. Fact, folks. FACT!! I test sold already just to see the tone of the market, and its like dropping raw meat into shark infested waters. They hit it in a flash at the bid. Simple as that. And if that doesn't tell you the real lay of the land, then there is a stubbornness I simply eschew that clings resolutely to an unrealistc glass-half-emply mindset, IMHO. Just try selling a few at the bid. You'll see what I'm talking about.

Do as you like folks. Bail if you think its still not proven. I welcome the chance to get back in after the test sale I did to confirm my suspicions. So, shake and fall, baby. The apple won't even reach the ground before it's snarfed up by someone hiding in the tall grass.

Simple as that.
