why doesn't the SEC view that as market manipulation? they have the power to halt buying of a stock anytime they want

Hey, that's quite something as a lame excuse. That really cracks me up! To think that comes from a "Senior Stockbroker" at one of the most widely used brokerages in the US!

Whatever Scottrade may have to say to excuse their non-compliance with their clients' wish to trade, the fact stands that there are good brokerages -- ChoiceTrade for a start -- that have no such problem, and will not reject your orders. They might actually welcome them!

Just a matter of going where you can do what you want without a Big Brother supervising and limiting what you can do, or behaving like an incubus.
