You can do both Conno. This "exclusivity" is hampering development. There are battery and FC EV's with wankel engines in development. The good news is the power train for the FC and battery is the same. The "charge" for both can be the same when the electrolyser is in the tank too. Sounds like overkill but there is Japanese work onging for all these on the same vehicle at the same time.
Over time it is envisaged all will gravitate to FC but the transition will be many years.
