Yes Lincoln wanted all people to be free. That is still the motto of the Republicans to this day. The disconnect is how the people have been brainwashed over the years. Many minorities are not free due to Liberal entitlement programs meant to keep them dependent on the government on more programs. Republicans would rather see them productive members of this economy with ability to have all the possible access to the American Dream which is still very alive.
Funny how Obama himself stated how his mother pulled herself and family up by her bootstraps and helped him on his way to success. Tremendous to know that all people can do that in America today. Very sad how after he made this comment, then he stated the goverment needs to help others to do that. At best, condencending to those currently down on their luck, as he has pretty much told them that they are not as strong as him or his mother!
