The 15 to 20 foot storm surge is going to get carried right up the Mississippi and into Lake Ponchartrain. The wind damage is going to be more severe this time as well.

I am also very concerned about the achafalaya basin which lies between Baton Rouge and Lafayette. You cross it on I-10 and it goes for about 20+ miles. All of the natural gas pipelines that feed the eastern seaboard run through here. The storm surge and wind could sever these lines and take out the I-10 bridge. The damage that was witnessed in Bay St. Louis and Biloxi Miss. is going to occur in the area.

Baton Rouge is going to sustain heavy damage; there is a huge Exxon Refinery north of the city on the river that could get some serious damage.
