IMO, the hand over heart gesture is a
token, gratuitous display that I wish would die of old age. It reminds me too much of the 'secret handshake'. I saw it a lot on the Olympic coverage and noticed we're the only country that does it. That's too bad because our real strength is a result of our freedom and individuality, not conformity. Authoritarian countries with state sponsored sports programs can't touch us. It's about our actions, not our symbols.
