I don’t think this has gotten Ugly,
I've just recently traversed this road with OLA at the Bible and the God boards...I waited until You guys reached the same point in the discussion and continued on...
Ola is right other than fancy there is no Logical reason to continually debate the unanswerable. It is a waste of time trying to.....
I started with Descartes and went through Kant Comte and Dewy. Its a circle round and round and where do you end up, but at the beginning.
In this sense Ola said it this morning. Which is why I asked if he was a Positivist. A Positivist can let go the search for God and start talking philosophy with ants.... A reason why, I think Ola comes off so pompous and arrogant in his views. He probably feels that he has passed this point of debate, being secure and concrete in his beliefs he now may challenge people who are unsure or re-examining their core beliefs. This would be considered fun, not malicious by Ola..And I think maybe rightly so...Luther stated the Heretic is here from God to challenge the pious to expand and further their intellectual progress... Luther spawned the Protestant religion of which most of American Christians fall under.
As modern science has changed or altered forever the Christian belief of God put forth by Saint Agustas or Thomas Aquinas they have replaced it with a THEORY of the Absolute, either as ground of the universe or the unity of the universe a substance in which all else is created and evolved through time..
I do not propose to speak for Ola just taking a guess as to what philosophy (ies) he has presented us here. And why they are not ugly rhetorical attacks, as they may seem to be.
To a Positivist God and the Bible, might seem an allegorical insult to the highest degree.
