I was referring to the new ad - that is what catches the attention of a potential new (or existing) Mac user and perhaps gets them in the store.

regarding the free iPod Touch (actually up to a $299 rebate on iPod nanos and iPod Touch - only the 8Gb though)

Where were the ads for the get a free iPod Touch or the $299 rebate?

There weren't any, really - the deal is ONLY for the education market which excludes the K-12 students.

Sure you knew about it IF you when to Apple's website and happened to go to their webstore but there are no signs in the bricks and mortar stores.

i was in Best Buy a couple of hours ago and hear a young college age couple talking to their friend the BestBUy geek salesperson who knew nothing or not much regarding Macs and MobileMe and iWork (best buy has a package deal on this). After the sales person left, I told them about apple education deals and told them to go on line or the local Apple Store.
