All companies are different, My wife works for the gov and their fiscal year begins 10/1. I work for Florida Power & Light and ours begins 1/1.

skid, any company, public or private, can declare a fiscal year of any 12 contiguous months.

Most companies choose their fiscal year as the calendar year. Good example is Good Life China:
