We aren't anywhere near the point of peoples' water to their homes being dry.

We'll outlaw pools, water parks, water sports, beverage manufacturers, etc. before that happens.

In Nandi Hills, Kenya where my mother lived, she had 2 tanks that purified captured rain water. She had enough to share with neighbors if it came to that. Interestingly enough, in Kenya, it is illegal to deny water to someone who needs it if you have the means. Of course, a lot of folks would simply stock bottled water.

We are a LOOOOOOOOONG way away from running out of water.
