Just as I have been waiting for a very long time to hear from the citizens of Berlin why the city, or anyone else for that matter, didn't make plans to purchase the site well in advance of the mill closing. I'd also like to read what folks have to say about what the real estate folks have in mind to put in the site if it were to be purchased.

I've read about and ATV park, a marina, a motel complex and even seen an artist's rendition of a motel.

The only answer I received was from veritas-twj who's of the opinion that there isn't and wasn't any money available to make an offer.

In your opinion... what about for the hard-workers in Berlin currently on unemployment? Do you ever think of the citizens of Berlin struggling to make ends meet? And you care about the VIEWS of the City of Berlin... This is almost appalling.

Interesting, so the new vision and steps taken include becoming the prison capital of NH? Great strategy for tourism. LOL

Hi Rich,

I believe you are accurate in your assessment about some Gorham residents seeing Berlin as a threat to their tourist dollars. Especially those business owners whose livelihood depends on it. After speak with several current mill workers and Gorham residents, they see the steps being taken by their selectmen and other leaders as a waste of time, money and effort. Especially given Fraser's history and current financial situation. Instead of propping up a dieing mill, they would much rather see their elected officials look forward and focus on steps that will help them make the transition away from a dieing paper industry.
