Sorry Traderfan, but I'm not clear on what you mean by this sentence. Could you rephrase it? Also, a company doesn't have to announce a buy back before it happens. There's no illegality in not announcing a buy back before it happens.

I think MRKCO is saying that if there is a deal either done or nearly completed, then they may hold off on publicly announcing it in order to do a buy back at a "pre-news" PPS with the expected revenue. This is all speculation of course.
