Greg, here's something....iGaming Eclipsed $3b in 2001, Will Double by 2003, According to New Sector Report
by Piyali Chakravarty
March 15, 2002 (ResearchReport) Internet Gaming eclipsed the $3-billion mark for 2001, and is expected to double to $6.3-billion in 2003. Market saturation is not an issue due to the industry's rapid rise in the Far East, and the number of gamblers is expected to rise to 15m by 2004 "even if" U.S. bans take place.
Big names in the field include Harrah's (HET), MGM Mirage (MGG) and Playboy (PLA), but smaller companies to watch include Cryptologic (CRYP), Chartwell Technology (CWH.v) and Dotcom Entertainment (DCEG).
Leading trends appear to be legalization, the emergence of the UK as the leading iGaming jurisdiction, bigger players entering, introduction of games of skill to squelch legal challenges, killer apps such as "wireless" devices and the heftiest potential cash cow of all - interactive television.
