Banneker, Inc.: No High School Student Left Behind

DENVER, CO--(MARKET WIRE)--Aug 6, 2008 -- Last year Banneker, Inc. (Other OTC:BANI.PK - News) launched the first hip hop, urban, "Class Of" graduating class jewelry to many schools across America. The Banneker line consists of class rings, necklaces, earrings, watches and stud and hoop earrings with the "bling" appeal that many students of today relate to.
Up until last year, the only class jewelry that was available was much like that of past generations. The styles haven't changed in decades and today's youth have much different tastes than their parents and grandparents. Banneker CEO Derrick Holmes says, "This line was a necessity, especially for the urban styled, young adults."
"The students of today like flash; eye dazzling jewelry and that is exactly what we created for them. We also wanted to bring these students a message. All of our class jewelry was made in honor of Benjamin Banneker, an African-American clock maker, surveyor, astronomer and early civil-rights activist who made the first entirely wooden clock, among many other accomplishments," Holmes said. "This great man needs to be known. What he brought to us all needs to be known. In his honor we dedicate each and every piece of jewelry to him. All of the jewelry has a wood face topped with a glass crystal surrounded by diamond-like stones. The metals are very bright and definitely eye catching. It suits the students of today perfectly. It is everything they love and admire.
"One thing we never thought of until the problem appeared was, what happens to the students who have worked hard and have made it to graduation but cannot afford to buy their class jewelry? They get nothing. For these students there is no reward and no way to proudly tell the world about their accomplishments."
Holmes, CEO of Banneker, Inc., realized this problem early and has decided to launch yet another major project to ensure that this never happens again. President Bush launched 'No Child Left Behind' and similarly Banneker has founded the 'No Student Left Behind' Program. Banneker is convinced that major corporations will help sponsor students. This is Banneker's goal for the coming year.
According to a Banneker spokesperson, "Right now we are putting together a team of people dedicated to this cause. We will be going to some of the largest corporations in America and asking them to sponsor students who have made it to the top in spite of having little to no money. We want these students to enjoy their success by wearing their own graduating class jewelry. Banneker, Inc. will also sponsor as many of these young adults as possible."
