Not actually. In fact, Q's EV-DO enables Voip usage in various platforms. Q-Chat and Brew-Chat use Voip. Eudora even takes advantage of Voip.

Voip is simply a method that allows voice to be carried over the internet. In most cases it is only partially carried by the internet. The operating companies that depend on Long Distance revenues will be the companies most hurt by voip. Because the cost of transmission is much less, the long distance companies will see their revenues falling.

Remember you still need an instrument (POTS, Mobile Phone or PC) to initiate the call and receive the call whether it's voice or data.
