The test is done in the laboratory on left-over serum from the standard H.I.V. test after it shows that a person is infected. The Food and Drug Administration has approved the test, known as BED.
China launches pilot campaign to identify new HIV infections

The survey centers on the HIV-positives' history of infection and their current conditions, and the difference between the newly reported infections and those of the past. The findings will guide the country's AIDS prevention strategy.
The move, organized by the Ministry of Health (MOH), covers all the HIV-positives as well as those who are mostly likely to become infected reported from Aug. 1 to Sept. 30 in pilot areas. About 29 counties and districts of the southwest Chongqing Municipality and Yunnan Province, the south Guangdong Province, and the centralHenan Province are on the pilot list
