#19366 RE: Aiming4 #19365

Cortex has had a longrunning relationship with BOM, and usually does present at their conferences. However, they have a primetime 9:30EDT slot--after everyone has finished breakfast and is ready to pay attention, before everyone is sick of listening to the same BS they hear on a semi-monthly basis.

Cortex would not want primetime to squirm under the klieg lights while explaining a total washout--that's not how Stoll wants to do what is likely his last corporate presentation. IF they knew this was a total washout, either they would have cancelled or more likely, asked BOM for a lower profile slot. There's no shortage of CEO's who'd like to talk to an audience still awake from its morning caffeine buzz.

I continue to believe that there is some kink or twist in the initial data that Cortex wanted to sort out--explain--explain away--or some combination of the above, necessitating the pseudo-PR of last week. The oft-mentioned dosing issue would be a strong candidate (lack of dose-response curve, an odd U-shaped one, only a response at 2100mg, or some other weirdness).

We'll see on Wednesday, but I don't think the timing/positioning of the presentation is indicative of an empty dataset.

Aiming:

I understand where you are coming from with your concern. I have thought of that as well but I don't think the company would open themselves up to tap dance at a Q&A session etc...if they didn't have positive results. I think that there underlying news will more than likely be positive.

I think that if they thought they would get bad news they would have already completed a pipe. (There is just not enough cash on the Balance Sheet.)

I think it would be a mistake to try to trade in and out of this one. I suspect that we are in better shape than in the past and the market and bp will realize this in time.
