#312 RE: belmontx #311

I agree belmontx!

While the 1st/2nd thinning situation is complicated by Raleo and market conditions, I just don't understand why there is lack of clarification on 13-14 year Teak. Is the question that such wood is not saleable in the international market (inspite of TATF's claim) or is the question simply that TATF does not want to pass on distributions no matter what. While its a bitter pill to swallow, I would think that most tree owners could deal with the idea that perhaps they will get distributions only at 20 yrs but if its the issue of simply not passing on any distributions, inspite of being able to sell the wood at whatever price, then I wonder if we can put some pressure on these guys through govt agencies in Costa Rica.

Although my harvest (even the first thinning) is not due for another couple of years, I am planning to write and call about what they are selling, if anything, in the market and what is being done about the distributions for 7, 10, and 13 yr old Teaks. I am sure others are asking the same questions.

To your point belmontx, yes, they need to revise the estimates but it looks like as long as they don't admit to the fact that the distributions for even 13-14 yr Teak are none to negligible (if that's the case), they can keep the projections high on the website i.e. innocent until proven/admitted guilty!
