gollem, Error Correcting Code is implemented in the memory controller, which (of course) is external to the Dothan processor. The most common scheme (undoubtably the one used here) allocates 10 bits to a byte - 8 bits data, two bits cyclical redundancy code. This detects up to a 2-bit error and corrects a 1-bit error.
