Although Crucell might possibly be interested in buying Avid that has not been their pattern up to now. They have an extensive history with DSM in Europe for manufacturing. They really operate with a royalty model, franchising their technology for future royalty revenue streams. So far they have been focused on improving their MAB and other technologies, (which might bring BAVI's cost per dose down),and trying to become the standard in those fields. They will be cash flow positive this year (their goal) and I think any acquisition would have to immediately enhance that goal.
Their acquisition of Berna gave them a pentavalent pediatric vaccine and immediate status as a vaccine manufacturer. It was a huge expansion of the company.
Down the road they might be interested in buying Avid but I don't think they have the cash yet.
