Hey pops6x usually it is a "tail" that peeps think fills the gap, but it does not fill the gap , only a "full-bodied candlestick " fills the gap IMO.

pops Dart is the gap expert...I know because he made me smart last year when I argued with him over them.

Japanese Candlesticks say the tails fill the gap but here in the US of A it takes the full candle as Dart has proved many times over.

Ask him about break away gaps...those are the only ones that don't have to be filled.
