It's ludicrous F6. I'm not a gun control nut... and I've always read the 2nd as establishing an individual right, not a collective one. Well regulated militia is the reason given for granting tha right, but the right it grants is clearly to the individual.

That said though, the NRA, who funds these things isn't about gun rights or self defense. The NRA is largely supported by gun manufaturers, selling a product and hence desiring more demand. So we get these myths of manly men defending their castles from invaders... looking to rape and murder and just basically commit mayhem. But that's not what it's about. The NRA is about gun dealers' rights.

Here are some questions:

If I have a boat may I arm it with canons? Why not. Doesn't the 2nd ammendment guarantee me that right?

Can I uparmour my truck and put a gun turret on it? Why not?

Where does the Constitution say that a former criminal can't have a handgun? I've looked and I believe it says "shall not be abridged" or words to that effect right.

So where are we going to go with this?

Scalia usually sticks to the letter of the law when writing his opinions like him or not.

But this one and his dissent on habeas corpus are over the top even by democratic activist judicial standards.
