I rather have 80% of the worlds leased rigs in Petrobas hands than a US oil major....lol. Then we'd be screwed. Given that Offor is in bed with them already, its very likely some sort of deal will be reached, as they seem to be screaming to get into the EEZ, also rumoured to be interested in the JDZ.

In the defense of the delayed Aban Abraham, Gandur said there were many "specific" upgrades Addax requesed to cater to the JDZ geology. With all the time they've had to analyse the property, our success rate goes up considerably IMO. Seeing there batting avereage is 80%+ in the GOG already, they should hit Kina out of the park.

If the oil is there as its rumoured to be, the rigs will come.

PS... does anyone know what Anadarko's deadline to drill is??

True, economic forces do tend to balance out over time, but in erhe's case, as Balance has pointed out, there isn't unlimited time. All Petrobras has to do to nullify the rights Erhe and Addax won in the JDZ is keep a stranglehold on the rig supply for--what?--three more years? That shouldn't be so hard when it can put these rigs to use for years to come in the gigantic oil deposits Petrobras has apparently discovered off Brazil.

DegenerateGambler... That would be 11 billion USD a year to pay, only for the rigs? Isn't that a little heavy for Petrobras?
Furthermore, if Petrobras goes over the top, they will soon have everybody against them, which wouldn't be very smart!

DG, very logical response...makes sense...essentially, the world will not let one country control oil exploration
