Why do you use SPECbase instead of SPECpeak?

Taking a set of 26 separate applications and determining
a custom set of compiler flags for each one of them to
obtain peak performance is not very representative of
typical software development IMO. Using a standardized
set of compiler flag settings is far more representative.
