Building a few power plants seems like a no-brainer to re-establish $30B in State revenue. But then, what good do power plants do in an economy where people make a dollar a day?
They've got themselves in a pickle to be sure. The Government fears meeting MEND's demands will only cause further violence demanding even more... greed, if you want to call it that. And not meeting them will beget more of the same.
Then end solution is going to have to be a betterment of the Niger Delta peoples lives AND a military improvement such that the Nigerian Military either CAN or WILL defend the installations.
In my mind it's probable that the military is AIDING in some of these attacks, especially the latest Bonga attack, although Bonga smells of Al qaeda influence to me.
