#58379 RE: boomersooner #58378

lol. Your earlier story about your father's golf buddies was poignant. I have similar stories with friends and (mostly) relatives. The difference? Maybe it is a defense mechanism on my part but I really do not hold myself responsible for investment decisions THEY took. With perhaps one slight exception, I never actually told anyone to buy. They came on board of their own free will. Was it my salesmanship? Nonsense. What they saw was the stock going up, was me making money and they wanted a piece of the action. (Right now, I know it is hard to believe there were period like that but there were).

Addition: Perhaps I should add whether THEY hold me responsible for their bad fortune. The answer is almost definitely yes. By talking about the stock, I broke one of tibbcat's rules of investing. While I don't recall exactly, the cruxt of it was to keep your mouth closed when things are going well. Funny how my personal "stock" in the estimation of family members has been partly linked with the fortunes of this stock. But so it goes. Live and learn.
