Re:<"Only thing that perhaps you missed is that this concept has been around since the 1970's, originally developed by JPL I believe. One might surmise therefore that it is not commercially viable or, if it is, that an outfit with more than $500,000 would develop it successfully.">

I would tend to agree with you. Electrolysis has been around for a while and it's certainly not rocket science to pipe hydrogen produced from electrolysis to the pistons. HYHY doesn't seem to have any good value-adding advantage which they can use to their advantage.

Obviously a 5%-10% boost in efficiency would be worth some money if there is in fact that boost. I know Minneapolis just put in some hybrid busses and the decision appears to have been heavily weighed by the numbers--not quite a fair decision since the federal government pays for 80% of the cost of the busses but numbers nonetheless. They paid $200,000 more per bus (again with 80% being subsidized) for a 25% increase in efficiency. Certainly if HYHY or anyone else could provide even a 5% boost for $40,000--some electrodes and a tube wouldn't cost that much to manufacture--they could rake in money. Like you said, after 30 years and no traction, one has to wonder.

I've seen much worse, though. There's a company I'm watching which has been pushing pyrolysis oil for a decade and convincing shareholders it was essentially diesel or gasoline and another company which is pushing a piston-based machine for capturing 'wasted pressure' for energy. Two worthless concepts repackaged for the benefit of gullible shareholders. I know those particular two companies are run by crooks.

I can't say anything about HYHY, though. I don't know that much about them. I usually assume companies are honest until I see evidence otherwise. Trying to commercialize a technology developed in the 70's certainly doesn't make those people behind HYHY bad. I know a lot of good people who really believe in their ideas even though the ideas sometimes might be doomed to failure. Not saying HYHY is doomed to fail either--just that my initial impression is that they seem to have an uphill battle.
