BTW if you believe that AT&T wireless problems are due to its air interface selection, you truly are one of the biggest dopes I've encountered on these stock threads...
It has a lot of problems that are obviously not air interface, but they're hurt by the fact that they can't move forward as easily as Sprint and Verizon could. A "cheap" upgrade path to CDMA 1x and EV along with access to some sexy high-end products would do wonders for their outlook. They were driving a 1970's Chevy in a Formula 1 race and missed the turn somewhere back there....
In short, CDMA has allowed operators to use their spectrum more effectively (not just efficiently), to be more spry at making changes, and given them access to phone suppliers who are now defining the cutting edge.
