For the record, Dr. Moro invented an enhancement to the ELISA test, not the original ELISA test itself. The original ELISA test utlized color change to measure the amount of a substance. Dr. Moro enhanced the original ELISA test by using electrical conductivity to measure the amount of a substance, which increase the accuracy of the measurement.
As for NASA, it is my "educated guess" that Dr. Moro developed an integrated circuit that was connected to a "conductivity ELISA" reader as part of a space flight experiment. It allowed a computer to perform automated ELISA measurements.
