#14029 RE: DougS. #14023

DougS:

"They will be compared with swabs from up to 200 police officers with Caribbean origins to try to trace the island the man or his family was from."

Now, this is something new. Actually trying to track an individual down in reverse to their place of origin/family, (maybe easier in an "island" genetic ancestry situation) is quite interesting.

Maybe this has been discussed, but it is a far cry from just skin color and eye color/shade. Following the genetic code right to the doorstep of a criminal's family or place of origin brings detective work and forensics to a new level and has some fascinating implications.

Global genetic data access by law enforcement. More tests being sold as the data grows and becomes more refined, as there may be more than one test used/needed to track one individual to origin. And probably some other twists we haven't even imagined.

It may be wothwhile to note that once this data is established, whether it be in the Carribean or somewhere else, it will always be there to use, add, modify and mix with other data.

Very interesting. Or is my imagination getting the best of me again??
