Luis E. Giusti points out the twofold problem for oil in the future. Discoveries will have to be made to cover [1] increased oil demand and [2] declining oil reserves. This has always been the case, but it was ignored while oil reserves were in abundance.

I will add that 1985 was the last year that the world replaced the oil it used. So, for 23 years we have been depleting the worldwide oil savings bank. This is not sustainable, especially with Mexico's Cantarell in severe decline and many other oil fields in decline.

Tonight I think I will be having Peak Oil nightmares. [Not really, I will be dreaming of my Peak Oil garden beds, a more pleasurable thought.]
