Gee Whiz, it is really great to have you knowledgeable people on the board discussing these issues...like 4D? I don't have a clue ...if asked, I would think you would have to put on a pair of plastic glasses to read the oil patch for 4D. Just trying to say, hats off to so many of you people that are savy about the oil industry. I look forward to reading the forum every day and feel bad that I am dumb as a rock about the oil industry. But, thank you all so very much...it would be tough to be invested as long as I have in ERHE without being able to read daily your insightful and intelligent discussions. I also appreciate CHCR and the others that keep this board a civil environment for intelligent discussion...without the moderators and our fellow, sensible fellow board participants, this board would be a mess just like two other Raging discussion sites. And that is no Bull if we lived in the investors village. Thanks again to all.

OT - Tryoty,I'm not sure I understand it either.

Here's a copy of the news :

Thomson Financial News
Petroleum Geo-Services wins $251 million 4D seismic deal from Petrobras
05.05.08, 6:10 AM ET

OSLO (Thomson Financial) - Petroleum Geo-Services ASA said it has been awarded what it claims to be the largest-ever high density 4D marine seismic survey campaign by Brazil energy company Petroleo Brasileiro SA, in a deal worth $251 million.

Under the terms of the deal PGS said it will undertake five separate surveys offshore Brazil, covering almost 5,000 square kilometres, as well as an 'alternative program' of up to 120 days.

'The Campos, Santos and Espirito Santo Basin surveys are scheduled to begin in October 2008,' the Norwegian firm said.

PGS will use its recently-christened high definition seismic vessel Ramform Sovereign, it said.

try -

You are correct. Nice call.

Over time you can watch to see if the gas cap is expanding,
Possibly watch the water as it encroaches.
Helps with the placement of later development wells to capture bypassed oil.

Try, I'm with you, WHY would Petrobas run 4D on a field that has not been produced? Unless it has been produced for some time or 4D does more than folks think or they're still blowing smoke about their find.

4d seismics are probably being used to look at tidal effects on this Large body of oil..It would give them a better idea of what we are dealing with..

That should bring a smile to anyone's face..Only in the largest deposits can this be seen..That's my guess anyway
