Of course they would not do the actual testing at the live location. What they would do is perform the tests, then go live at one and only one location if possible. There is absoutely no way to foresee, test, and patch every single potential error prior to a software release. You do the best you can given the time and money constraints. Software companies do in fact ask clients if they would like to test pre-release versions of software all the time. In my opinion the Woodland Hills location is and will continue to be the Beta site. The benefit to rolling out new releases at one location is complete damage control. A catastrophic failure at one location is much easier to rebound from than crashing all locations at once. For example, when at all possible, we only go live with any new release of software department by department at the hospital. Crashing Dermatology allows Radiology, ER, Genetics, etc. to continue to operate business as usual.
