Usually people just use a margin account. Essentially borrowing money from your broker using your portfolio as collateral. Usually can borrow 2x's your major (NYSE) holdings. If you have $25K in the account you can borrow up 4x's.

Other than that banks will loan money against blue-chip stocks that are held in your name (not street name).

I have a margin account but do not use the margin to buy stock, but merely to trade with while cash from a prior sale is still waiting to clear.
