Dr. Christopher F. Tirotta, M.D., M.B.A. , CEO / Chairman of the Board

Dr. Tirotta is the Director of Cardiac Anesthesia of the Congenital Heart Institute of Miami Children’s Hospital and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Miami School of Medicine.

Dr. Tirotta founded Kidz-Med, Inc. in 1993. Its purpose was to create and sell educational books and videos for children on various health-related matters. Dr. Tirotta created and produced the widely acclaimed childrens pre-operative video, “A Hospital Trip with Dr. Bip,” to explain to youngsters what to expect when they go to the hospital for surgery. It has sold thousands of copies across the English-speaking world. He also produced “Dr. Bip’s New Baby Tips,” a video designed to explain to young children what to expect when their mom brings home a new baby.

Dr. Tirotta graduated Cum Laude with a degree in biochemistry from Cornell University in 1982. He received his M.D. from New York University School of Medicine in 1986. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at SUNY Stony Brook in 1987 and his residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center in 1990. He received his MBA from Columbia University in 1999. He is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology and of the National Board of Medical Examiners.


Thomas W. Materna, MD, Ophthalmologist

Thomas W. Materna, MD is an ophthalmologist in the state of New Jersey. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Massachusetts in 1966 and his medical degree in 1971 from the State University of New York’s Downstate Medical Center, in Brooklyn. He did his surgical internship at New York Hospital’s Cornell University Medical Center from 1971 through 1972.

Dr. Materna saw active duty as a general medical officer in the United States Navy. He was stationed in both Southeast Asia and Washington, D.C. He participated in family practice residency from 1974 through 1975 at King’s County Hospital, Brooklyn, and an ophthalmology residency from 1975 through 1978 at the New York Eye, Ear, and Nose Hospital. He received his MBA from Rutgers University in 1991. He is a member of several professional societies, one being The Society of Medical Consultants for the Armed Forces. He has also served on the Board of Directors at Dezomark, a medical company in Lviv, Ukraine.


Donald C. Bennett, ASFX Engineer

Donald C. Bennett attended Cooper Union School of Engineering, and served as artillery and guided missile officer in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He gained expertise in the fastener industry as a sales engineer for a major domestic bolt and nut manufacturer for fourteen years. He founded Bennett Bolt Works, Inc. in 1972 and currently serves as its President and Chief Operating Officer. Bennett Bolt Works manufactures and distributes hardware for the highway-safety industry.

He is a member of many professional associations, including the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, the American Road and Transportation Builder’s Association, and a task force of the Association of General Contractors Joint Committee on New Highway Materials. He contributed technical data on the fastener portion of the Guide to Standardized Highway Barrier Hardware. Mr. Bennett is an active member of the Guardrail Committee of the American Traffic Safety Services Association.
