Muzo, the difference between intel and microsoft is that intel can't give away their cpus as microsoft can give away internet explorer.

Here's one idea: Intel could have "bundled" the CPU and the chipset together and called the combo "inseparable." Then Intel could have sold at profit margins that come close to those of AMD and Via, increased market share to 95%, and made life truly miserable for any competitor.
