Gold is more of a intermediate to long-term hold for me. Short-term moves tend to whipsaw people out of positions and cause worse performance. I ignore the short-term moves and temporarily sell when I see an intermediate-term move. This latest move looked intermediate, but turned out to be short-term. The bull is still running as far as I can tell.
I used to follow candles and volume but found that they are more of a distraction than helpful. For me, those types of things are just a warm fuzzy if it agrees with my other indicators.
