well, with these guys, you could just buy the carbon credits, or the promise of such. so you would still spend your money but have no real land at the end of the day.
however, clearing land for jatropha is counter to carbon storage, in fact, they would need this land to offset the cleared land.
so in effect they would be selling the carbon credits to themselves, but since cap-and-trade of carbon credits is essentially theoretical at this point, it is just a shell game with your money and their fantasy land.
and that is assuming they have title to anything, which has not been demonstrated as of yet.
it is not exactly exciting investors now, is it?
