Moffitt aims to ensure that patients - throughout the state of Florida and beyond - have increased access to cutting-edge research protocols. The following initiatives lay the roadmap for the Cancer Center's future: cell-based therapies, proteomics and genomics, genetics, integrative medicine, and total cancer care.

Collaboration with IBM:
Moffitt Cancer Center and IBM are collobarating on a new system to help researchers and clinicians speed cancer screening and diagnosis. It will involve the development of a new clinical research data warehouse that will integrate data from more than 30 disparate databases. Initially, the project will focus on lung cancer data and provide an integrated research platform to focus on identifying specific molecular and genetic markers that predict the risk level of developing lung cancer, response to treatment, and patient outcome. Moffitt and IBM will build on this model to incorporate other data, including myeloma and breast cancer. Later, additional basic science research efforts will be integrated into the system.
