Defenders of Scottrade like to say "stop complaining and pick up the phone, it's that easy." But how easy it is is irrelevant. The bottom line is many traders will put their money elsewhere and the stock is harmed. This is a consistent result and I have no doubt Scottrade knows it.
Thus the "short" accusations--if a stock has a short position and Scottrade is engaging in market manipulation to depress the share price, of course the suspicion is going to arise.
