It also depends on time frame.

For me, I day trade and only rarely take a postion home overnight.

Using options, I find it "easier" (nothing about this is easy) to make 15% - 20% per day.

Of course, when a position goes against you, you can ratchet down to $0 pretty quickly.

That's happened before as well.
