ajtj, I disabled the scratch pad on my laptop in favor of the mini-mouse. I was always accidentally touching the pad and doing unintended things. On the other hand, my wife - with smaller hands - loves them.

Scratch pads: Sony is one I've found to be excellent. It's an old one, so don't know about the past couple years.

Every touch pad that I've ever come across left me unsatisfied. The one on my work crap-top is so sensitive, brushing it while typing moves the cursor around. Annoying.

I've always used either a separate mouse, or the nub/stick on IBM laptops.

Always have referred to that IBM stick by a different name, and perhaps, that's the source of the satisfaction. Anyhow ...
