Yes there are conduits running to the undergound manholes. In Chicago there is a whole city under the city where all the utilities live. But the thing about a smart ring that is unique is that not only do you have fiber diversity but conectivity to more than one Central Office building.

Diversity comes in when feeding the ring the fibers must come in from two distinctly different directions (One from the North and One from the South). This is protection in case one fiber is cut for any reason. The path will automaticallt switch to the path of least resistance.

Then to overcompensate for the diversity you add the flexability of 2 or more Central Offices. This insures constant up time just in case one Central Office goes down in a war like situtation, like a bomb going off to destroy communications being fed from a single Central Office.

This is truly not a "mom and pop" type of internet connection. No sir, this is not your ordinary T1 or DS3 service. This is big time connectivity!

IMO, that's what the PR said. They just threw in the part about the move down the street for those that want a warm and fuzzy feeling. I also might add that this connectivity comes at a huge expense!

Hmmmmm, Vendors just don't install a "smartring" for fun. there is much time and effort to design and implement such a ring. AT&T also has a contract drawn up for a minimun timeframe before we will even consider such an engineering project. Why would a PR just tell us about a move down the street?

Maybe we should ask, Why would XXIS sign a contract for such a ring? How much is this expense? How can we afford this contract unless we are trading with some great results?

Bark if you must, but I feel better than ever about my investment!
