Lavasphere (the base software for NeoReader) does not employ a server for resolution of the code. In my discussions with NEOM tech team, the NeoReader will decode and link direct (embedded URL or information) without going to the server or link through the Resolution server for an indirect code. I believe that NeoReader is supposed to trak/register every click at a central server that would allow for click-based pricing/revenue/compensation.
Other readers on the market that are reading direct encoded codes do not employ any server. They read and decode the code in the phone application, launch the browser, and pass the decoded URL to the phone browser which directly connects the user to the target URL.
