Metal, I think most of them will be charged overnight at home, equaling out the current peaks and valleys in power consumption.
The grids will likely need to be upgraded, however. They have a good point there. However, regulated utilities should have no problem finding a solution.
Even if charging could be brought down to an hour, that's the time it takes to have lunch. Initially you'd probably see special parking spaces at office buildings where you could plug in. That would be great if you were in sales as well.
That said, if you were to get 60 miles out of a charge, that would serve most commuters just fine. Good stuff.
