I live in the Philippines......
Sold everything in Seattle in March and left the US. I live in Barrio Baretto, Olongapo (the old base area of Subic Bay). That's about 3-4 hours on a bus to get to Manila. Clark is 55 miles NE. I am GMT + 8 hours. The market opens at 10:30pm here. Unfortunately, I would have to be up till 5am (all night) to catch the close.
Some interesting news my way....
Manila airport will be closed to intl. air traffic and the new "hub" of the Philippines will be Angeles City (Clark) to the east. Manila has been a bottleneck for years. Angeles City will be the next Manila. Property has easily doubled here in the last 3 years.
Korean influx....
the Philippines is now a major retirement area for the Koreans. When it's -10 F below in Seoul, it's 85 F in the PI. It's a 3 hour plane ride. The Koreans are buying the place up, especically around Clark and Subic Bay. A condo in Seoul is US$500K, so I have been told (with 50% down). For half that, you can get a 6-bedroom mansion with a swimming pool.
