The water makes all the difference. I tried some without water on a stain in my formica top and it did almost nothing. I wiped it off and did it again with water, let it set, and with a little rubbing the stain was gone.

I used it on stained tupperware. shot a squirt into the dishwater and let it sit a little.
they came out clear as a bell
