Most of the actual move up was buying at the ask. One or several strong buyers (those who really wanted the stock for whatever reason) could have accounted for that, and then the remaining, stagnant trades by other buyers just jumping on the bandwagon could be the reasoning for the lack of movement thereafter. There is nothing to indicate manipulation, after all the MMs make money whether the SP moves or not. This is where the SEC has trouble proving the theorm. There is no 'hard' evidence that would hold up in court.
